Terrible signal indoors despite good signal in my area - is it my handset or O2?

I've been an O2 customer for 2 years now and ever since joining I've had an HTC One mini.

Where I live, the signal is supposed to be good and I get 4G, but when I make or receive calls in my house or in my office at work (which is also good signal apparently), people on the other end of the line cannot hear me on a regular basis. As a result, I have to stand outside to make or receive calls or use a landline phone.

I have previously been with Orange on various handsets and never had this problem. So I don't know if the problem is with my specific handset or with O2.

My contract has come to an end but I'm reluctant to begin a new contract with a new handset incase the problem continues. I'm tempted to get a new handset with a different provider, but I have been happy with O2.

Does anyone else have this problem? Or can anyone advise me whether the problem is indeed my handset or O2?

Check your postcode here.  http://status.o2.co.uk

If you can possibly try the sim in another phone (the o2 store can help) you will know if it's the handset or the network.

Try a PAYG sim in your phone from another network (or borrow someone else's non o2 sim card) as see if you still have a problem or not.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

In fairness if it is a signal issue it's no good staying with O2 however much you like them @Anonymous...Particularly when you had no problems with another provider...:smileywink:

Odd that you say you have been happy with O2 if you've not been getting a signal wink

Anyhoo You would think that in areas you get 4G you would get great 3G and 2G but that's not the case, as far as I know, calls are still not bing made over 4G, the handset is switching back to 3G or 2G to place the call.

Would probably try and sim and or handset to check this out before taking a new contract out.

The phone will always drop back to 3g or 2g for calls but being blunt, why stay with any network that doesn't meet your needs?

Thanks for all the help everyone.

I've tried switching my network mode and it has seemed to have improved my calls, I'll see if it stands the test of time for a bit though and failing that I'll try swapping sims/handsets to rule out the problem.

Thanks everyone.
