I recently upgraded and have a new iPhone 7 I am waiting to make use of. However, my old handset - iPhone SE had not been backed up to iCloud since October 2016 as storage was full so I recently paid for additional iCloud storage upto 50gb. Despite manually trying to effect backup to iCloud and separately leaving phone connected to power, locked and WiFi for prolonged periods for automatic backup my phone still says it hasn’t been backed up since October 2016. I can’t beliece it should take so far or be so difficult. Quite frustrating as got new handset I can’t mske use of. Any help grateful appreciated. Thanks

Delete your old backups off iCloud and it should then do a new backup.
If not, plug I to iTunes to do it manually.

Settings, Apple ID, iCloud, manage storage, backups, tap on the listed backups then press delete.
