Problem solved. I went into an O2 shop and asked for a SIM swap. This has worked. Thanks for all your feed back.

4G is not used for calls. As soon as a call is made or received the phone will switch down to 3G.
What network mode have you got selected (Settings >More >Mobile Networks >Network Mode)?
It should be set to 4G preferred/WCDMA/GSM

It's not releasing 4G soon enough for the call to be connected.
I'm not aware of any setting that controls this so I suggest you contact HTC support directly.

Same here I have m8 n if I m connected to 4g den first call attempt to my number fails(calling party still here fone ringing but actually it does not, 4g connection drops on fone but no fone ring. Calling party gets user busy message. If calling party tries again now within let's say 30 sec den da call is connected) Y the calling party hears fone ringing n den user busy? Is this problem is occurring on other 4g handsets? Android/ ios?

As per advice early I talked to htc technical dept and they say it is a faulty sim card or a faulty phone, I all asked them about changing the settings so it disconnects 4g quicker, they say cant be done.

I have also been talking to O2 and they say "this is not a one off for the htc one m8 and they are investigating.

They will respond to me within 5 days to confirm what action needs to be taken and until then change the settings to auto 2g.3g only. I wait with baited breath.

Not a problem I have ever experienced in my Sony or HTC One so it must be specific to the M8.

One of the pitfalls of being an early adopter, I'm afraid. I think it's always best to wait a while for the kinks and glitches to get ironed out of any new technology before jumping in.

It might be a network problem because the calling party hear the ring but the actual m8 doesn't ring .. n then user busy message appears after 4 5 rings on calling party
N if it's only m8 prob den it's really a big -ive for m8
I wud luv to know if other network users r also facing this prob on m8 wid 4g.

I would be careful waiting 5 days if you are still within the return timeframe incase there is no solution
