Can anyone out there tell me why (oh why) my Samsung Galaxy S3 mini will send Talktalk emails (via smtp.o2.co.uk) when not using wifi will not do so when hooked up to wifi? Very frustrating. (Never had this problem with my Sony phone.)

Outgoing Port 587

That's another suggestion tried, again without success (except to mess the settings up even when restored). Any others want to have a go, whilst I delete and reinstall my account...

When you are Not connected to WiFi you are using O2 mail server to send ... and when you are connected to your Home TalkTalk router via WiFi you are using TalkTalk mail server to send ... therefore you need different settings or 2 accounts setup and choose the appropriate one to send an email.

I have set up email on mySamsung Galaxy S3 - and it receives OK. BUT - sending is another matter. It doesn't work at all with the talktalk settings for smtp, so I followed the instructions I received from O2 and now the settings are smtp.O2.co.uk, none, 25, In the O2 shop it worked perfectly. But then when I got home and the phone connected to my home WIFI all sending failed again. I turned off wifi and it sends again.
So now I know how to get round the problem- but the problem still exists!
Do I really need to turn off wifi everytime I want to send an email - surely there is a better solution?

i've had exactly this problem with my S3 on O2, and TalkTalk as BB provider.
Got fed up with switching wifi off to send emails (I was using smtp.o2.co.uk as the outgoing server)
try this link to a TT help page

I followed these instructions and it seems to work with wifi connected (at home so far...) and with wifi switched off, so over O2 service.
