Can you Trust o2 with your Samsung galaxy s3 security

As most s3 owners should be aware of the the problems with the s3 security on the exynos chip and the motherboard sudden death syndrome, which Samsung has addressed with a software patch but ive been told by o2 that it won't be released for o2 customers until spring with no firm date, now why can the other networks release it already.

Not many - It's a very low %age and even Samsung didn't rush to fix the problem.

The security problem was only noticed in December and Samsung released the patch on the 1/1/13. And exynos security problem effects all s3 and any other handset with the same exynos chip.

Please be clear about what you are discussing as you have listed 2 issues. The security RW access is different to the dead MB syndrome. If you want to patch your device ahead of any roll out by O2 you have 2 choices.

2 - Unlock and debrand your handset with latest open firmware (ask if you don't know how).

Firstly, if your phone is network locked to O2 you need to fill out the unlock form and get a code to allow any sim to be used. https://www.o2.co.uk/apps/help/help?qid=1&q1=2&route=unlocking&case=Handset%20Unlocking%20Form

Once you have unlocked the phone you go to www. sammobile.com and download the open firmware to XELLA version http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=8&view=9906

You also need a programme called Odin here http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&model=GT-I9300&pcode=BTU&os=1&type=1#firmware (scroll down to additional files). Read the "flashguide" which gives you all the instructions but ask first if you're not sure.

Note to mods: This is Samsung approved firmware/process and does not invalidate any warranty etc....

I can confirm that the Samsung Galaxy SIII security flaw has been addressed in our latest maintenance release and is no longer a concern to SIII users.
