I visited an O2 store yesterday to obtain a replacement sim card.
Over 24 hours later the sim is still not working

I have tried switching on and off (multiple times) and I've tried removing and reinserting the sim card.

Are you a Pay Monthly or a Pay As You Go user, @lawts?
O2 Shop staff should have moved your number to the new SIM, including any remaining balance if you are a PAYG user.
