No. Connecting to your home wifi is free. Just make sure that your mobile data connection on your phone is switched off.

I am only connecting to the internet via wi-fi but every day at midnight my usage shows that I have used 5MB of data. Every day. Anybody know what is happening?

What phone do you have? You need to go into your settings and switch off your mobile data, which must still be on. It's updating apps that are running in the background.

If its an iPhone data kicks in when the phone goes to sleep even if wifi is enabled. As above, disable mobile data then it can't connect.
