Upgrades & Tariffs - lack of choice

Anonymous
Not applicable

My contract expires on 14/03/14 & I am now able to upgrade, but having looked at the upgrade shop here, it seems my choice, especially with regards to tariffs, is significantly limited

Currently I have 200 minutes (which I struggle to use anyway) & unlimited texts, but it appears that the minimum number of minutes I can pick now is 600, which is far more than I am ever likely to use

Combine this with a free upgrade & I am looking at paying an extra £15 a month compared to what I am paying now

Do O2 offer alternative contracts that are kept hidden in the cupboard somewhere until you threaten to move to another provider or is this really the limit of tariffs being offered these days?

I am happy with O2 & the service they provide, but not with the tariffs now being listed

Any ideas/solutions?

Hi

You can try talking to retentions to see if you can get a better deal and if not, you can look at phones4u or CPW and still stay with O2.

You could try speaking to retentions via 202.

I don't think they keep tariffs hidden but may be able to provide a tariff more tuned into your usage pattern.

I was in the same boat.  All the refresh tarrifs are much more expensive for the same phones on O2 in carphone warehouse.  I raised this with the girl on the phone and she said they couldnt match their prices on the refresh tarriff.  It seems its all hype which you pay a lot more for, the galaxy note 3 was £10 a month more for the same phone.

However i asked about changed to simplicity and she offered me £4 a month of the tarrif i wanted so i have opted for that at £12 a month which means i can buy whatever phone i want when i want on a sim free basis.  sorted.

Many of us do the same.....

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Just agreeing with Janhsmn & MI5. For the past few years I have just been a cheap sim only customer. O2 provide the service and I go and by the handset that I want when I want it. Alex
Been an O2 customer (off and on) since 1995
