I've a zero spend cap, but am going on a cruise in the near future.

I read on the EU website that price caps don't apply, so wanted to check if this was correct or will my spend cap work and allow connections when close to land without clobbering me martime fees?

EU rules no longer apply and you will be charged for non-regulated roaming services (no price caps).

Travel costs are excluded from spend caps but be aware of the costs for cruise ships Guide: Cruise Liners / Aircraft Charges

thanks for that link, I was aware of that. So just so I am 100% clear my zero spend cap won't prevent me connecting to a satellite maritime network on a ship, so I'll need to turn roaming and flight mode on when at sea, then when close to land/in a port turn that off and I should then connect to a mobile network and use the O2 roaming.

@kitenski If the cruise ship you're on doesn't offer a free or reasonably priced WiFi service the best thing to do is keep your phone off while you're on board. The charges when you're in port will depend on what countries you're visiting: Roaming on O2 - All you need to know - O2 Community

Wait till you are on dry land before turning data back on

Your phone will connect to the strongest signal and the ship does not turn off their satellite connection

Amend your settings to manual network connection rather than auto connect
