New tablet

I have finished paying for my phone and I'm now juat paying for airtime.
I have seen a tablet I would like to get via o2 shop but I want to keep my number and would only use the tablet via Wi-Fi.
How does this work, does tablet come with a different number / sim.
Any help appreciated

You need a new contract for a tablet with a new number.

If you upgrade, your phone will lose the ability to call.

So if I don't use upgrade option can I just get the tablet on a new contract with just the 500mb lowest option
