Don't take it back to the shop or do anything until you speak to someone who knows whats happening in customer services. This appears to be their mess, not yours

Someone has dropped an enormous ballcock here. You need answers and I think you will only get them via the complaints route. It will be like a hot potato in customer service, no one taking responsibility and passed from pillar to post.
