I just received my new phone, do I need to wait until the charge runs out before charging it again to better future battery life or is that not a thing anymore?

No need with modern batteries.

Just charge as needed but try to avoid leaving on charge overnight too mich.

Those days are long gone.. 🙂 just charge as normally and you should be all good
