In this guide Guide How to Top Up (PAYG) you will see this, under the section:

Keeping Your Sim Connected.

If you don’t top up, add a Bolt On or carry out any chargeable activity at least once in any six month period, your O2 Pay As You Go sim card will be disconnected and you’ll lose any remaining credit on your account.

Hi @malc89

It would be wise to Top up 6 monthly to keep it active.  I believe it is necessary over a year.   Keep this sim active by making a chargeable call i.e. a phone call 3 monthly.
