So recently I decided to upgrade my earwear and buy some new headphones. I looked around the usual bunch although settled on a set of Shure Aonic 40.
They have a reasonable amount of noise canceling with environmental mic controls. Paired with the Shure Play app they give you a decent sound in AptX Hd if supported by your Bluetooth device.
They are supplied with a faux leather case and fold upwards to allow for a tighter fit when you put them away
Whilst low frequency rumble isn't really eliminated, high frequency interference like rain and resonant wind currents; Indeed, people are mostly reduced by a good 20dB which is enough to block out everyday distractions you will experience in everyday life.
What do you use?

I have various headsets @anticpated but none are particularly "high end" :-
- for Teams/Zoom calls on PC, I use a Cisco set with a microphone - wired.
- also a Jabra set with a microphone when on calls on my 'phone - wired.
- and a Sony bluetooth set for listening to music on my 'phone.
The Cisco sets come with drawstring cloth bags, and the Jabra came with a zip-up pouch. The Sony set are a budget offering and are the only set that I wear outdoors.
Are you happy with your purchase ?

I've got multiple sets and in-ears! I have the Sony WH-1000XM5 which are pretty much awesome in the noise cancelling department. Never set the equalizer either as my choice of music is set to random and I can't be bothered changing it in the app. However even though I got them for a good price with vouchers, I don't want to take them out of the house! If I ever get on a flight again, they will be coming with me. By far the most impressive feature is the cover-right-ear-to-hear feature as everybody always decides to talk to me when clearly I can't hear them. Totally worth it for that feature alone.
Have a JBL700BT (non-nc) which are pretty good for general stuff and folds well - annoyingly the Sony ones don't since the release of the MX5 version. Bought a cheap yet recommended brand called Superlux but I broke and repaired those so its kind of near the original but just as good. Need to fix those again due to my dodgy soldering! No mic on those but nice enough for work purposes on boring calls and I need to focus. Also have a set of Beyer Dynamic DT770 (32ohm) around somewhere.
Then a multitude of in-ears from all sorts of brands. Some bluetooth ones but due to the work laptop nothing ever works properly with wireless - everything on Teams is a massive fail - so a basic set of Apple earbuds is the ones that get used if needed.
Saying that, I now just use the laptop built-in mic and a USB soundbar for work (work from home so no problem) calls. Nobody has complained 🙂

I'm looking to get new reference headphones again. Austrian Audio or High end Akg. Although you can pair a cable with these Shure headphones and use them passively.
