New york times puzzle offer

I have been trying to take advantage of the priority offer for the new york times puzzles. I put in an email that has an existing account when setting up. However I have no way of telling whether this has actually worked or not, as my account hasn't changed, but I don't want to be charged the second year if this hasn't worked. 

 

Do I need to try again using a different email? And is there a way that you can check whether this has or hasn't worked? 

 

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out.

Does your account settings give you any idea regarding payment options or how the membership is funded?
