I would like to know if I have been scammed. Yesterday I received a call from O2, the name of the person was David Wadner, he gave me a number if I had any problems 07365764673 ext. DW224. He said there was a problem with the billing system. He said I could only access my o2 account if I used a password he gave me. After being on the phone for 1/2 hour. He then asked would I like an up grade, I said I still had a year to go, but he said that was ok and quoted me new deal which worked out cheaper than what I pay. He said it would be sent in the post the next day. Today a parcel arrived which had to be received with a 4 digit number. After it was delivered I received a call saying that DPD had made a mistake and told me to send it back via a QR code at my local post office which my wife did this afternoon.

At approx.4pm I had a call from someone else from O2 saying that there had been some unusual action on my account, the call cut off due to bad signal and they did not try to phone me again. I looked at my O2 this evening and see there is now a second number linked to account, when I usually upgrade I keep my old number. Could you please have a look to see if this all sounds right.

@Columbus65

100% scam.

If you think you’ve been the victim of fraud – whether it’s because you’ve given details to someone over the phone, or clicked on a link in a suspicious text or email there are things you can do:

Contact your bank if you think you may have given out financial information. They can help protect your account and stop transactions.

Change your account and online account passwords. Not just your O2 account. All of them.

Forward fraudulent texts to O2 for free on 7726.

Contact Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040.

Call your Virgin Media or O2 customer services number if you think somebody’s taken out a contract using your details.

Virgin Media customers can phone 150 from their landline or 0345 454 1111 from any other phone.

O2 customers can call 202 from their O2 phone or 0344 809 0202 from any other phone.

You can block the number that called you, or any number you think may be suspicious.
