I currently have the S8+ which is knackered after 2 years hard use, which is why I paid off the 2 months left on my current contract and pre-ordered the S10+.
It's not a case of having a new phone for status or looking for the latest toy! I use my phone for everything; online shopping, streaming, downloading and playing games, downloading and listening to music, and entering the forum. So my phone is in use 95% of the time I'm awake at least. So for me a new phone is a necessity not a luxury. Particularly as I don't have a landline, laptop or PC.
It's worth the extra money which isn't that much from what I'm paying now even with the coming 2.5% RPI increase in April.

Shoulda gone for OnePlus, @Glory1 - My 26-month old 3T's still going strong after 2 years, even if I have moved on to the 6T. Ask @MI5
You may well be right but I prefer Samsung. And to be honest I think whatever phone I had would be knackered by now. Remember I don't have a laptop to fall back on, I use my phone like you use your laptop. Nor do I have a landline. So the few calls I make are on my mobile too. And I Skype my friends in the US too on my phone. The only thing I don't do is the washing up with it
