If you're going to use the Sale of Goods Act, you could at least try to understand it! You didn't mean not fit for purpose, you meant faulty (or at a push 'Not of merchantable quality').
The Sale of Goods act, doesn't guarantee you an refund or exchange, a repair is perfectly acceptable.

Sale of Goods act guarantees a repair or replacement. The store are perfectly within their rights - it would have been the same from any other network provider.
