PAYG data only sim refunds!

O2 have as of the 31st January withdrawn service for PAYG data only sims.

I’ve been receiving emails telling me this for a few months. The emails ask me to contact customer service for any due refunds and to replace the sims with pay monthly contacts if I want to carry on with O2. This I’ve been doing for a whole month on and off..,

I have 2 data only PAYG sims. Both are, or were used in LTE security cameras. I purchased the “ultimate surfer package” on both sims, costing £60 each for 50GB data lasting 366 days, that’s a total of £120.

I used barely 5GB of that data on either sim and had 212 days left…

O2 have twice now, yes twice! Sent me a refund of £0.01p for each sim, that’s a total of £0.04p and it’s taken 10hrs of my valuable working days on the phone to O2 customer services to achieve this absolute insult!

I’m at my wits end with this, no point in phoning customer services anymore, they’re untrained idiots and just waste my time!

Not sure what to do now, although I’ve fired off an email to O2 customer complaints services today….

@Barnie

Just cancel them and move elsewhere, that would be my advice and just write it off, have a look at the likes of silux mobile, or Mozillion who do yearly or 2 yearly bundles.

As for complaints then it will no doubt take them 8 weeks to come back to you, You wont get £120 back you may get a small amount back...

O2 already cancelled them on 31st Jan, but my LTE security cams only get a decent signal on O2 network, so I have to be on O2 network.

I took out 2 new 18 month contacts to replace the PAYG data only sims. Both are with Virgin Media O2 and now costing £4.80 per month for 5GB per month with unlimited calls & texts. Obviously I don’t need and cannot use the calls & texts in a LTE camera and don’t need 5GB of data a month, but that was the best I could get. They’re actually £6 per month but with a 20% loyalty discount on both… I have me main mobile phone number with O2

I absolutely despise O2 but I live in a remote area and O2 is the only network

Big snag is that they are contract they will rise in price by £1.80 each April. Rather expensive for what you are getting

You may have been better seeing what Giffgaff/ Tesco had to offer as these run on the O2 network

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.

Yes indeed, but I tried Giffgaff/Tesco before I commenced battle with O2, neither had anything better…
