I haven't used O2 Community for some years (since 2021). I had a question today (about texts) and found it so impossible to get contact details, I've reverted here. I was logged on to my MyO2 PayMonthly account, tried to post a question and was taken to the "complete your profile" by choosing a username. I entered my existing name, IslandBoy, and was told username already taken. Yes, by me. But there wasn't a button for that so had to accept IslandBoy1.
I suspect that my change of email address may also have been an issue for the creaking systems. So
Thanks.

Amazing. I searched for old posts of IslandBoy to double check, and O2 did the same to me three years ago! Wifi and 4G Calling on Samsung Galaxy S10 - Page 2 - O2 Community

Hi there,
The easiest way to do this is to log into your old account, and update the details yourself. You can then close your community account via the settings (and this will anonymise any community data and remove the username), and then I can change your username.
Alternatively if you can't access that account you'll need to contact one of our agents, or you can follow the steps in our O2 | Terms and Conditions | Privacy Policy - the likelihood is you'll be asked for proof of identity.
Thanks,

That wasn't possible. As I said, I tried to use my old account but was forced to "complete your profile" which resulted in a new username. So the two questions remain outstanding:
I'm surprised O2 is so lackadaisical about a security report.
