Upon receiving my htc hd2 i am pleased, however there appears to be no wi fi router setting so i can use the htc as router and connect my laptop to it. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Is there a way to download it?

Are you talking about using your handset to allow your laptop to access the internet?

If so, whilst you can buy a third party app to turn your handset into a wi-fi hotspot of sorts, its more usual to connect your handset to the laptop using a cable or bluetooth. Use the supplied software to make the connection.

Also only wanted this device for the router feature, was ensured by O2 this would be available. Spoke to HTC Support, apparently all the networks have this feature enabled, only O2 thought it best to remove - madness!

What is the 3rd party App which gets this working again, I need it to get more than one device working through the web, which is why the bluetooth and direct alternative isn't going to work for me, I need the router option, please post link to site. Many thanks.

Just got mine, same disappointment... but (and this is only a guess) you might find downloading and installing the latest ROM from the HTC site will rid the phone of all O2ness... make sure you back it up 1st tho. I might give it a go, but I'm going to have to take a brave pill first...

Btw if you want to use the Wifi Router on the HD2 you will need to buy the Mobile Broadband bolt-on which will allow tethering, as otherwise you may find you are unable to use the phone as a modem...

Morning, did running the patches bring this option back in settings?

Apparently there is a third party app that does the same thing, if anyone locates this software, please post link - ta.
