Now on average I only receive between 1 and 2 bars where before I would get all five... I would really like to know if anyone else has this issue

Hi,

What does the service status state :  http://status.o2.co.uk/

http://www.o2.co.uk/coveragechecker

I reside in an 02 4G city and have not noticed any drop in my 3G signal thankfully.

Have you phoned 02 on 202 for contract customers to ensure your account is ok.

I assume you moved to a 4G sim and 4G tariff.

It cant harm to remove your sim card and give it a wipe to remove any static build up.

Have you toggled from 4G to 3G to see if your signal bars change.

4G t&C.

Of course you realise that the number of bars is not an actual indication of signal strength but an approximation which is dependent on the manufacturers interpretation.

I am in London and for the most part have had a steady 4g signal though I have had fallback to H+ and 3G and even total loss of data in areas, but seemingly temporary, and I put that down to the network being busy - possibly with users all trying out their shiny 4G handsets.(based on intermittent monitoring whilst driving within and around the M25)

The signal bars for 4G can be fewer than for 3G as there would be more 3G masts.

I'm in Leeds and I signed up for my phone on launch day and my phone is a BlackBerry Z10. I signed up for 4G on launch day and the coverage around the city seems to be quite good. On Friday at the office where I work, the phone was struggling to connect to 4G outside, despite being able to actually see 2 O2 masts. Today, I was connecting even inside the building, a big change just over the weekend.

The drop in signal strength applies to 4G only, where I am getting around 2 bars at home, whilst 2G and 3G are a still a solid 5 bars.

Hi there, Yes in answer to yr post. I have had a massive drop in service in most of the places I work. Nome now registers No Service 95% of the time whereas before it wasn't brilliant but is now truly appalling. I spoke to the chat help and was told to turn my 3G phone to 2G.... I haven't even it that now. It's fine if you are in a city but living in the relatively close in south west and travelling across the ouch of England up to .london it is truly appalling. I think I will take to Twitter. Any advice?

Hi Ericaj,

Like all Networks 02 do state their service is not fault free ,and fringe coverage exists.

Advice is the same.

Check your service status in my link above.

Clean your sim card and if you wish replace it by picking one up at an 02 shop ,and ask them to do a sim swap.

Challenge the status of the mast even if its saying all is ok. Ask around you to see if people on 02 are having the same issue ref 02 Network Strengths.

Phone 02 on 202 for Contract Customers or 4445 for Payg ,to have your account checked.

Do not use Live Chat for this. They are fine for low level general enquiries.

Have a diagnostic carried out on the phone by the manufacturer ,or as a last resort 02.

Last resort would be to request a PAC Code from 02 to move your mobile number to a Network that gives you better signals where you reside, commute and work.

Obviously that's if your not tied into a contract.

Request the unlock to all networks code so you can use other SIM cards in your handset. It's free to contract customers and £15 for Payg that has been live on the network for 12 months or straightaway in an iPhone.

https://www.o2.co.uk/apps/help/help?qid=1&q1=2&route=unlocking&case=Handset%20Unlocking%20Form

Get Payg sim cards from networks your interested in and try them out.

@Toby

This is not restricted to 4g. If you recall I had the same issues on 3g whereby I had to turn data off then back on again to get it to work. It would do so for a few minutes then stop again.

I fear the OP may already be seeing congestion which, if this is the case, is a frightening thought see early into the rollout

Even more disturbing @Anonymous  when you see this thread was started at the beginning of September 2013.....and no improvement at all 10 months later?
