Does anybody else keep getting spam SMS gambling/casino messages everyday? Usually there is no phone number to block just a name, I am literally reporting them to 7726 everyday but feel like I’m wasting my time!

I don’t gamble and am registered with the telephone preference service.

Is it just me getting these dodgy messages?!

I get them occasionally but not to that extent.

If you put your number into websites they can get scraped and lead to spam or you could just be unlucky in that your number got on to one list that has been sold on.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

I was just hoping to find out if other O2 users have this issue as this literally only started happening when I joined O2!

Why cant O2 take proper steps to block these unsolicited messages with no phone numbers?

The texts all have a number but the identity is manipulated to show a word or name.

Many legitimate texts are sent this way too so it's impossible for any network to block them all.

To answer your question about other users, as I said, not to the extent that you are and it's not something we see regularly on here to a great extent.

If you use Google message app it should catch most of these with it's built in spam filtering.

I don't have the issue to which you refer but I don't give my O2 number to many individuals or organisations.

Doing some research the IDENTICAL  messages and senders names seem to originate from these sms generator sites receive-smss.com, temporary-phone-number.com/UK-Phone-Number/447893920469 etc

These sites allow spammers and phishes to hide their true id (the sms messages are not legit marketing messages from casinos as the sms has links take you to some dodgy fake casino websites, which is their aim).

The site should be banned!

There is a way to find the number that these come from, you need to install PhoneLink on Windows 11 and then link it to your phone, and it will reveal the phone number hidden behind the name..
