Change of username

Recently when signing in to MyO2 I've been presented with a page which proclaims: "Now you can use your email address as your O2 username to make signing in even easier." and asks for a valid e-mail address. After ignoring this a few times I've given in to the demand and provided an e-mail address. But I'm left wondering in what sense can the use of a 20 character e-mail address in place of a 12 character username "make signing in even easier"? If there's a technical reason for wanting an e-mail address as a username, fine, but why not say so instead of insulting our intelligence with a patently nonsensical platitude.

I agree, instead of an easy 6 characters, now I have to type in 18 *** characters, ridiculous! It doesn't even keep it as a cookie, so have to retype it everytime!

Thanks for your feedback. I'm not sure what to change about it now, but I'll make sure your feedback gets forwarded to the right departments.

Cheers,

Leonard

I assume it's so O2 can collect all our email addresses and spam us as I now get texts and emails on a daily basis with useless offers which O2 insist I NEED !!!! (Justin Bleeder tickets, I ask you ??).....Oh cynical me slight_smile
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.
