Hi all,
I'd love some help.
Got a brand new contract iPhone 15 from O2 and when I charge - apple charger cable and apple 'plug' bought from an apple shop - it turns itself off overnight, and won't come back on.
I have to do hard restart (up, down, hold on button) and it turns on (but only sometimes. Sometimes I sit there doing that for about 10 minutes at 4am wondering why it's not working). Then, eventually for no reason, it comes on. It's always fully charged - it's like the phone is auto turning itself off at full charge.
Is my phone faulty?
And whose responsibility is a knackered brand new phone?
(taking it to the Genius bar for a chat, tomorrow)

I would have advised you to go to Apple first, so good for you.
If Apple say the phone is faulty then it's O2 you need to contact. 30 days after purchase to return a faulty phone.
Give O2 a call on 202 or 0344 809 202 (Contract) 4445 or 0344 809 222 (PAYG)
Or you can message O2 on social media on Instagram https://o2uk.co/O2CIG), Facebook ( https://o2uk.co/O2CFB) , Twitter ( https://o2uk.co/O2CTW).

Well that’s interesting. And annoying. I guess I’ll try the Apple Genius Bar and see what they say to these! Thanks so much for sending them on.

Hi there
Well I went to the Genius Bar (Solihull, very nice chap) and the news is my phone is fine - they ran diagnostics and it's not a hardware issue or software. Basically the phone is good and they thought it was an odd issue.
Essentially there's nothing wrong with the phone itself.
They did suggest it might be the phone isn't strictly turning itself off, rather it's an issue maybe connected to the new functionality of 'StandBy' which is the one that allows you to use your phone sideways on a wireless charger like an illuminated clock?
So we've turned that off (it was on though I didn't turn it on myself, maybe that's the default) to see if that helps.
So - no fix but at least I know the phone doesn't appear to be faulty. I imagine it is a software issue maybe and he did say to make sure I keep updating it when updates are available. (He said there was nothing reported on this by apple, apparently? But then I guess he would say that?)
I will give it a go - he also said if it does keep doing it - give it a few weeks - then the phone is guaranteed for a year and to go back.
So we'll see.
Thanks again for your help - I'll let you know how I get on!

Unfortunately lots of bugs in IOS 17 and the iPhone 15's.... Apple are working (slowly) on fixing them...
Best place to keep up to date is https://macrumors.com and there forums, a lot of very knowlegable people on there.
