unlocking handset to any network

I have just upgraded my handset and have requested my new handset be unlocked to any network. Any idea how long it takes for this to be processed?

New handsets (unless fully paid for) normally take 2-6 months before they can be unlocked.

Usually only 'flagship' devices though (particularly the new iPhones) @gmarkj. ?

yeah, its an iphone 7. I upgraded so my son could have the handset as I am happy with my current phone but his sim is for virgin. would a o2 payg sim work in it?

Once unlocked you'll be fine on Virgin - No restrictions on iPhone 7.
But yes, an O2 could be used instead.

Yes. You will receive an email to tell you it's been done.

Just put the Virgin sim in at that point and it will work OK.

If you have any issues, just connect phone to iTunes.
