iphone 4s screen gone too sensitive on calls

Anonymous
Not applicable

has anyone else had a problem with the screen becoming too touch sensitive when on a call. the last couple of weeks ive made and received calls as i always have but for some unknown reason i cannot put my face next to my screen without it cutting someone off or going to face time, loud speaker or hold. its getting beyond a joke now as i have to hold my face away from the phone as much as poss which makes it difficult to hear anyone. i was told that i should press the home button as soon as a call starts to take it off the call screen but it either does the same thing or it makes all my icons shake like im going to delete them. i have rebooted the phone several times but with no change    can anyone help

Just a thought, but since this problem has started. Have you put a screen protector or case on your iPhone. Sometimes these can interfere with the proximity sensor.

Can you make a test phone call, just dial 1471 for example (just so the Phone is getting used).

Can you then place your hand over the upper portion of your iPhone and see if the screen goes off, then move your hand away and see if the screen comes back on.

Hi.

Sounds like a possible issue with the proximity sensor.

First thing to try is pressing your top power button and home button together until the Apple logo appears and then let go. This is a reset.

If no joy then follow this link

Good call Fatboy,

A similar story is the amount of people who have posted on various forums saying "i cant hear the caller" ,only to realise they havent removed the screen protector new phones come with.
