Trouble migrating old number to new sim

Anonymous
Not applicable
Hi Guys, I am new on here. Just came to O2 from Orange on a new contract, upgrading my iphone 4 to a 5s. Asked to keep old number. All went well on migration day yesterday. Old phone went into no service, then new one did too and restarted but still on old number. 4 Guru chats later and they say the migration has taken place, but I cannot dial into the phone on either the old or new number. They both now come up as not recognised. I appear to be able to send and receive texts and can get into the internet ok. I have now been put in the difficult pile and excavated to support team, but have heard nothing so far. Anyone got any bright ideas what the issue is?

If you search the forum it seems it's not rare for a port from orange to O2 to have issues.

You may still need to speak to Orange and O2 to Push them.

A port can take longer than 24 hours so keep putting the iPhone into airplane mode to help the connection.

Also check the service status of our masts to ensure the recent weather has not caused any local issues. Input your full postcode.

Due to power disruption caused by adverse weather conditions, we’re still experiencing an issue with parts of our service in the North West of the UK. This means some of our customers may have difficulty in making and receiving calls and texts or using data on their devices. We’re working with our suppliers to restore full service as quickly as we can.

Oh ok thank you for that. I'll give it a go. Starting to think it would just have been easier to take new number. I've certainly memorised it now!!

Lol.

It's obviously supposed to be a seamless transfer. Orange ports seem to sometimes cause issues.

Hope all goes ok for you.

All sorted now thanks. Seems to have been a hiccup in the transfer but quick call to a very nice lady at O2 and she got it fixed for me. All up and running nicely on old number now. Thanks for your help.
