Stolen IPhone - can they bypass my passcode to access?

I had my phone stolen and have contacted O2 to cancel SIM, etc.  My phone has a passcode lock on it, is there any way theives can bypass this to access the phone or would they need to keep guessing?  I have been trying to locate it on findmyiphone and it shows as offline so i beleive it is still switched off and also if it was switched on and passcode locked it would not be able to connect to wifi therefore would this ever register on findmyiphone to wipe it?  Is there anything else i should do to ensure that all my information is protected and they cant access any of my stuff on my phone?

Another thing i have jsut thought about, when looking on findmyiphone my device still appears in my list as "offline" does this mean that the phone hasnt been restored or wiped yet as i beleive from reading other questions that as soon as the device is wiped it will not be registered with my icloud and would therefore disappear from find my iphone?

I had my iPhone 4 on findmyiphone until i deleted it a few months after it ws stolen so I could keep eye on it, just in case !!

I also sent a message and remote wipe even though I knew it would never connect !

It just sits there as a registered iPhone even though you wont probably be able to connect to it again.

Now 02 have blocked the phone it wont be able to connect to the Internet which means you wont be able to connect to it.

Depends but if you passcode locked it and had the wipe after 10 guesses set then it wipes your data but if not an easy passcode they should not be able to get in did yoiu also have a sim passcode set?

Hi,

From what I've read the iPhone passcode lock is one of the best encryption locks on a mobile phone.

If the iphone is switched off my assumption would be the finder / thief has removed your sim and dumped it.

Obviously once you contacted the network they will have blacklisted it and applied an imei lock which will hold in the Uk.

If the person restores the iPhone via iTunes this will delete your info and data too.

Thankfully Apple are introducing further security into their upcoming iOS7 release where the finder / thief cannot even restore it via iTunes with out using the Apple i.d it was originally paired with.

Great thank you I was just worried they would be able to access it and get any personal details, i dont imagine they would be able to guess the pass code lock so that should be fine and good to know if they restore it on itunes it wipes all my data anyway.  IMEI is noted and blocked so i dont think there is anything else i need to do now

Cool.

Hopefully you have backups within iTunes or iCloud to restore your info and settings.
