Can't Send or Receive SMS - iPhone 4s

Anonymous
Not applicable

I have moved from my Nokia 1020 to an iPhone 4s which has always been on O2 and was infact my partners before she upgraded last year.

It's now running ios9 as iTunes said it needed to update it.

Now it just gives an exclamation mark when sending a text message.

I have done the *005 thing and the number it has is +447802000332

I am on pay monthly and the carrier is version 21.0

...what am I missing?

It shows that it's connected to 3G.

I have tried turning off imessages and trying but it made no difference.

CHECK in my o2 what your old on is

It sounds as you have the wrong sim card. Send ACTIVE to 2020 and save the settings. Reboot the phone.

It's the same type of sim card, I had an iphone 4s before I sold it and went to Lumia and it's the same sim card....surely if it was down to a sim card I wouldn't get any signal on it at all?

How can I send ACTIVE to 2020 and save the settings if I cant send messages?

Just checked "my o2" and it says my number and then iphone 4s below it.

I am trying another restore via itunes and will see what happens with that and status says it's all fine here.

After a restore, problem remains and I cann add that it doesnt receive calls either now.

I can't send a text to 2020 as previously stated, I cannot send or receive messages.

MyO2 shows my number and the phone listed below it and I have 3G currently on the device.

Sim or phone is kaput, I guess.
Try sim in another phone and another sim in your phone to see where the problem is.

Unfortunately, yes, it would appear to be a phone issue.

Can you dial out at all?
Usually, when a phone won't work for calls and texts but has data working it means that it is barred - accidentally it would seem in your case, so if that is the problem you need to get onto o2 to find out why?
