@RichK

You must have visual voicemail turned on in your settings.

You need to turn it off.

I'm also getting these messages. I used to only get one every time my phone restarted but a few days ago something changed and now the messages occur multiple times per day.

It seems to be a bug in Android, and the communication it is sending to o2, which triggers the text message saying you have switched on voicemail..

Did your phone do any updates recently?

It might be worth reporting to Google / Android https://support.google.com/android/?hl=en#topic=7313011

I went to the 'phone' (calls) app, then 'settings' and it appears that visual voicemail setup had not been completed (although it had the correct number and service provider settings). I've switched off visual voicemail and the messages appear to have stopped. Thanks for the help!
