My friend in India is able to call me but when he sends a text i don't receive it. At his end, it says his text has been successfully sent and he is charged for it. Similarly, i am able to call him but he doesn't receive my texts. Why are the calls working well but not the texts?

@CW64

This sounds very much like an issue with the network your friend is roaming on in India.

They could try manually searching for a different network to see if that helps.

@CW64 If you and your friend in India both download WhatsApp and use the app over a WiFi connection you can call, text, and video call each other for free. That's zero. Zilch. Nada. Nothing. No charges whatsoever. No brainer.

In addition to WhatsApp @CW64, you can make similar economies using Skype, Zoom or Microsoft Teams. Whatever you and your friend might have on your handsets will be the most convenient ! 👍
