I think the key might be in the subject of the OP's post, as it's past tense. If they're already in Australia they would only be able to contact Customer Service via this number:

Before they pay the phone off, if they're still using their O2 sim and the phone is locked to O2, they would need to follow the link in the signature from @jonsie to get it unlocked. I only buy sim free phones these days, so I'm not sure if a phone can be unlocked from abroad, but I presume if the phone still has an O2 sim in it, it can be done. Perhaps someone who knows about this can comment?

Which is why I said to use the link, it has the overseas number. 202 is unavailable as the OP seemingly has moved to Australia already.

A phone can be unlocked as a code is supplied. The problem with being overseas applies to Iphones but this has been posted in other devices.

Yes, that's what it appeared to me. I posted the number to call from abroad as it's the only relevant number the OP could use if they're already there.
