Unfortunately you would have to do an emergency firmware restore or completely reflash your handset.

Search for the guide although I'm pretty sure they all have this Samsung KNOX security enabled now. Without having a S4 next to me, it would be wrong to advise you any further.

Essentialy though you would need a previous Jellybean 4.3 ROM from Sammobile.com and ODIN to reflash the firmware in Download mode. Have a look for the ODIN guide on here.

You can't unless you don't care for your warranty.
Anyway, it shouldn't be necessary. If you're having problems do a factory reset.

Have you done a factory reset that should sort it out

Already been suggested and fixes most issues with updates.

Strictly speaking you shouldn't have to, as all the indicies and dalvik runtime cache data and so forth gets erased and refreshed during the processing a new build of Android. However doing a factory reset gives you a null point where you can isolate and update applications wherever needed.
