Gallery empty and camera stopped working on Galaxy S2

I don't know if anyone can help. Today I took some photos and all was fine. Went to take another and the camera won't work. My gallery says there are no items to be shown, and the music I have saved on my phone won't play. Tried turning off and on again and taken battery out and put back in. Any ideas? I would be very grateful

Just tried to set an alarm and the alarm isn't working either - although the clock is still there! Do you think with all the 'fiddling around' I've done I have somehow deleted something that means the camera, alarm and music won't work? Audio books still play OK so I am very confused (as you can tell it doesn't take much!)

I honestly think you may have to do a factory reset but this will delete much of your settings etc on the phone. Otherwise, something has gone very wrong somewhere with the phone. Have you added any new apps or done anything different recently?
