Data Connection issue on HTC One X

Anonymous
Not applicable
Hi there,

Got an HTC One X, have had it for about 18 months now, but there has always been an issue with the data connection, that has really showed its ugly head today.

Four different Dats speeds on the phone: G, E, 3G and H.

The symbol 3G rarely appears on there, it's always one of the other three, but today, where I usually get an H, it has been 3G.

For some reason, thee is zero data transfer when it's on 3G, all the others are fine, speed tester works fine, even on G lol, but nothing on 3G, then the usual high speed on H.

Am I alone on this? Is there a setting which has disabled data transfer on 3G but not on G, E or H?

Thanks

Mike

No, you can't disable 3G and still have H.
Have you checked your area for local issues http://status.o2.co.uk/

Hi and welcome to the community.

If you live in an area with several masts nearby you may be connecting to one that is either not working or where there is high demand for service.

Enter your postcode at the weblink above from MI5. If there is an issue then the button on the bottom left will either be yellow or red. Click on it for explanation.

Please let us know how you get on.

Thanks for the replies.

Status of my area is all good, all ok, all normal.

H is working fine, then when it switches to 3G, stops, so yes, all normal!

It has to be a mast issue that maybe has not been reported or identified yet. You should call 202 to report it.

I have this in reverse. Where I work H won't work at all but H+ works really well.

But then there is an issue with a local mast at presentalthough this has been the case since October.

Might explain your issues? ??

Yep. O2 told me three weeks ago it was being upgrade the following week. Now they say they don't know. Quite poor really. But then this is semi rural although the mast in question is in a town with 48k people. There are 4 masts covering the town as a whole all 3g but at my home just 5 miles away it's a very very very weak 2g only.

Small update.

Job involves driving so had a chance to do more tests today.

GU10 3 area is ruled by G and E, and they are both fine.
Then GU9 8 area is ruled by 3G and H....yep, 3G doesn't work, H does.

Same again in GU7 1 area....nothing on 3G and fine on H
