Apex Launcher instead of Touchwiz launcher

Hi all, just thought I would make a post about this. It's a suggestion more than anything. Since the JellyBean update on my Galaxy S3 I haven't been comfortable with Touchwiz launcher, it has been very unstable, glitchy and often crashes when exiting some apps (in particular play store for some reason).

I did some research on google on how to fix the issues and stumbled across different launcher applications, I didn't actually know you could do this so I started reading more. After reading several reviews it was decided I would try Apex Launcher.

After downloading my phone has had a new lease of life! It's fantastic. Runs smooth, stable and never glitches. The transition animations are smooth and the whole app is extremely customisable.

Thanks slight_smile

I've used both Nova and Apex previously and found them very good. Be warned though that you may have to switch back to TW to get Kies to connect to your phone.

You make a fair point, not tried it.

Hang on.....

Ok it connects with the cable to Kies, Kies over WiFi works and Kies Air works slight_smile All good slight_smile

TBH I don't use Kies much anyway, I use it to backup my device and that's it. All pics and videos come over on Dropbox!

I have used Apex Launcher myself since I upgraded to ICS - I am a fan of it. However, It is not really silky smooth, there are jerky transitions and there is a noticeable lag between initiating the action and ti actually happening - I have a Galaxy Note - is there something I can do to tweak the performance?

It is a whole lot better than TW in everything, so I am happy to put up with the jerkiness. TW was jerky as well.

Look in developer options and you can lower window and transition animation scale. Might help.....

I used the free version of Apex Launcher for quite a while on my S2 and really like it. I personally found it really smooth and responsive. The only thing I missed from Touchwiz was the Active Applications widget. Never found a replacement thats as good but am currently using the free Active Apps app. I recently switched to Nova Launcher Prime as it was in Googles 25p sale. This is comparable to Apex but with a few more options. Try both either is a great replacement for Touchwiz and I'm one of the feww people who seem to quite like Touchwiz.
