I received my phone on the 3rd of Jan, but he esim card didn’t work (said no sim card)
Yesterday morning I went into an o2 shop for help
They gave me a QR code for a new esim card
I did the following:
Settings
Connections
SIM card manager
Clicked the + button for ‘Add mobile plan’ under esims
Selected ‘Add using QR code’
Scanned QR code with the camera to scan
The esim profile downloaded
The esim card is recognised, but I have no data, can’t receive messages, or do phone calls (emergency calls only)
I wasn’t asked to activate the new esim

Quick update…..
I went to our second closed o2 shop this afternoon, 45 minutes’ drive away 🤨👎
They did not have an eSIM pack, even though when we called them yesterday, they said they did.
I ended up with a physical sim card in the end because it meant being without a phone for another week. Also, I would have to go back and have it activated. Something our local o2 shop failed do last Thursday.
At least I can use my phone now. Not sure if I want to try an eSIM card gain.

Sounds like the store haven't done a sim swap, and just given you an esim pack, did you ask them to activate it for you?
You will need to call o2 on 0344 809 0202 and get them to activate the esim for you or use Skype and call +44 800 902 0217

Thanks for helping.
First of all, the customer service advisor in the o2 shop requested a new eSIM using my phone, by saying the old one was faulty.
They also gave me an eSIM pack to take with me in case the new eSIM card did not work. Nothing was said about activating it.
I used the eSIM pack after waiting for 30hrs and my phone still said, “no sim card”.
This morning I spend 1 hour on the phone to o2 customer service trying to activate the eSIM card.
They could not activate the it and told me to go into an o2 shop for help.
I now have an old phone with a deactivated normal sim card and a new phone with an eSIM card with no service.
Not happy.

I am not surprised that you are unhappy. Whether or not the staff at your local O2 retail store will be able to sort this is anyone's guess.
Good luck and let us know how you get on.
