Most likely cause is the wrong data apn.
Check in your MyO2 and change it to iPhone data if wrong.
Advice from O2:
This is something that can be fixed under MyO2. Users just need to check if the current "Mobile Data Bolton" under their tariff is correct for their type of phone (certain services won’t work if not i.e.Roaming).
If not, they just need to swap the Bolton to be compatible with their device.

New tariff don't show what the data is used for any more I'm affraid. And this is one of the issues. No one knows that they have to think to swap it.
also on new tariffs you can put your iPhone sim tariff in a android or windows phone and it works perfect,
its only other data tariffs that are having issues. But o2 are not making it easy for them selves as well. 😒
