Are the travel inclusive zone speeds in the US still capped at 0.5mbps?

Planning to take a trip to the US and have read that travel inclusive zone data speeds are capped and very slow at 0.5mbps. Can anyone that has visited recently confirm this?

@RP2 We have been told that O2 does throttle their data speeds. If you're going to be in the US for any length of time, look into a Pay & Go sim from AT&T or T-Mobile, or try to use the widely available free WiFi and use WhatsApp or Facetime or Messenger to keep in touch with friends and family in the UK.
