i got the wife a new phone, fairly happy with it, except, when you make a call, the screen turn's off making it a faff, it's difficult to light the screen up -by pushing power button a few times... and nigh on impossible to use the number pad for the automated options..like when you phone your voicemail box.... i cannot find any obvious setting to sort this out... any help would be much appreciated...

Is this actually a fault, though, or a design feature of the phone?

Yes, I know that it has a proximity sensor. Problem is that it when you move your hand over it to press on-screen buttons during a call, the proximity of your hand often causes the screen to blank too. At least it does on my Note 3.

unfortunately, the screen does not come back when you take it from your ear, so you can end the call, or input a number on automated switchboards.... i have to push the power button.... where is the sensor? i have put a tempered screen protector on and the phone also has a gel case to protect it....

oh, and the screen lockout was 1 minute, now changed to 5 minutes, but still no effect.... would be nice for an option to leave screen on whilst taking a call....
