Hi Ive reset my password to my microsoft account via my laptop.  Confirmation arrived BUT the password hasnt changed. Fortunately I can enter via image password on my laptop but not on my phone (should I need to) . - not linked

This is the repair suggestion i received from Msoft agent

''Try entering Safe Mode with network function.
To trigger the Automatic Repair mode, you must interrupt the normal boot process three consecutive times: use the reset or the power button on your Windows 10 PC to stop it during boot, before it finishes loading Windows 10. If you use the power button, you might have to keep it pressed for at least 4 seconds to force the power off
After you enter Safe Mode try to update your network drivers and then try to enter Normal Mode ''

Could somone expand on the reset power button (switch on/off?); SAFE MODE entry; network drivers,

and NoRMAL MODE. No doubt i could have found these in win 7 and 8 but not now.

PS does msoft have an image password via an android phone ?

Best wishes and apologies for more technical assistance

I suspect that the laptop login is separate from the microsoft account which is an on-line one. This would explain the behaviour you are describing.

Gosh @Jenny105

That info sounds frightening!

To be honest if I didn't know exactly what I was doing

I wouldn't do any of that ~ could find yourself in deep

trouble as nothing is as simple as it is written down.

I can't understand why you should need to put your

whole computer into repair mode.

That is only my thought and perhaps not what you need to know

but I feel sure you will take further thoughts on this action.

Very best wishes and good luck.

Is Micrexit possible.
*Back up my files to external hard drive ,
*Ditch my account / s ( for Micrexit) ,
Then Will withdrawal/Micrexit be achievable. ??

Or will Microsoft go into permanent meltdown and refuse me (an independent new account ) or repositioning of the old files.?????

Curiouser and curiouser - can you enlighten me ?

precis above

1  I thought I'd changed my microsoft account password via laptop microsoft account on line. Received a pop up to say I should confirm this

2   I couldnt sign in on screen with that changed password

3   I remembered the old password

4   Im able to use the old password on screen to open Microsoft

BUT  now

I find i can only sign in on screen with that old password.        If i go to (www.) microsoft account I can only use the updated version

Can anyone enlighten me as to what might be going on here !!!!

PS i mostly use an image to sign in on start up. Its worth having one in case you forget your sign in one

All I can suggest is that you change your pc sign in to a pin.
