Not sure I would trust Groundhog or anyone to predict an early spring especially so if it's an American one.Do we actually have Groundhogs here....so has to save me chasing shadows....?

https://www.express.co.uk/news/world/1080681/groundhog-day-2019-day-time-when-is-groundhog-day-what-...

Groundhog Day is celebrated in the US and Canada on February 2 every year, and the 2019 event will mark the 133rd Groundhog Day. The 131-year-old quaint custom decrees if groundhog Punxsutawney Phil sees its shadow against the sunny weather as it leaves it burrow, it will retreat back to its den. And this is said to signify winter will last another six weeks.

The Groundhog Day was first marked at Gobler’s Knob, Punxsutawney on February 2, 1887.

A local journalist Clymer Freas came up with the concept after quipping Phil was America’s official groundhog meteorologist.

However, Phil’s predictions only hit the mark 20 percent of the time.

According to the Groundhog Club data, Phil has viewed his own shadow 103 times and seen no shadow 18 times in the intervening years.

Just what California needs (not) more bad weather. This sounds particularly horrific; must contact my god daughter who's bound be to affected. Thanks for this information @Bambino 👍
