What number did they call from?
O2 do use an external company to contact people with sales and offers, and I would imagine they wouldn't be too impressed if you were spoken to like that.

Elsewhere, people have reported being called by Orange from this number. So it does look like a 3r d party. although whether its sanctioned by the network I don't know.

O2 are believed to use an external marketing company called LBM, if you got the number you may recognise it here:

All I can say is that whatever culture he represents, must be full of big Mummy's boys! He is just a clown and don't pay any attention to him.
Complain by all means, but I bet it doesn't progress anywhere as this muppet knows he can hide behind the fact he never gave you his name.

I have just read this bit from an ex-employee. I am tempted to ring LBM up and have some sport with them. grin
" 3) Rule 3 - play ball for around 2mins....reason....the staff at LBM have very, very short tempers, don't give them ammo to challenge you to a confrontation on the phone...they love having battles with the customers, they called it 'sport!'........When they ask you about your mobile phone, LIE!!!....REASON???....If we couldn't better your current mobile phone tariff...whats the point in trying to make you change networks to 02??? NONE!!!
THIS IS THE CORRECT WAY TO SURVIVE AN LBM CONVERSATION SO GOD HELP YOU!
"

If O2 are using cowboys like this, then it is time we asked WHY!!!

Hi well I did complain and did get satifaction ,I got a long aplologetic phone call from 02 who said if it was one of their callers they would be traced and reprimanded. They said it could be a third party masquarading as 02 or sub contractors any how it was totally unapceptable to be spoken to this way and credited my account with £50 as way of Apology. So I am quite happy with this and glad they took the time to reply.
