My wife has been losing money on a scam recently. She recieved a text for a message on the number 87122, all she did was view the number, never even put the number in and it took £3 off her, it has done this 3 times now, she has never answered it but as soon as she views it , it takes money from her. A friend said to text 'STOP ' to the number, this she did and it took a further £3 and then sent a free message saying they wouldn't send any more, whether this works or not remains to be seen , any advice would be grateful.

We have been affected by the same scam featuring the number 87122. It goes even further, in that even though we did not respond gamb.tv have been asking for, and being paid, through O2 a monthly amount. Attempts at using STOP 87122 have been futile. Searching the net and it turns out that this a common scam that gets pretty complicated. The gamb.tv website does not load and there is no reponce from their email address - 'help-line'. It remains to be seen if O2 finally stop making 'our' payments to 87122...

I've only signed up to this forum to sort this problem out.....
Grrrrrrr....it anoyed me also when i found out i too had £3.00 stolen from me.
I've just done this and it seemed to work....so far so good anyway....

If you type in STOP ALL (must be in capitals) and send it to 87122

Fingers crossed......

Hope this helps.

Also its best to send it as a new msg.

Because if you just press reply then type STOP, this sometimes doesn't work.

I too have lost around £23 in the last few weeks. but with mine I am redirected to an international number then to the number I originaly wanted.
Seems as though o2 will not do anything about this either.

I have a pay as you go account. with a XDA 2.
Over the last few weeks when i have placed credit on my balance. just £10 or £20 a time, After one or two calls my balance was £0.35p or Nil... Could not understand what was happening.

So today 8/09/09 (Tuesday) at 9:10 I placed £10 through my O2 Topup card onto the balance of £0:01p
Making £10:23. I then phoned a Manchester 0161 number and after a 3 minute call my balance was £1:34p WHAT?????

Phoned Customer Service and they told me I have been making International calls???
To Manchester, in the UK...???????
I can only assume my calls are being redirected Internationally. After that call I made a call to my home phone via my mobile with a balance of £1:34p and was redirected to the O2 TopUP Line... So this too was redirected after I stopped the call I had 61p left of my £1.34p

This I think this has started after I have been inundated with texts from 8**** Numbers for offers of Financial assistance, Loto, Chat, Games and girlie pics. at £1:50 a text ( I just delete them have never text STOP or answered) but getting around 10 a day.

Can someone Please tell me what has happend as the Customer service said all they can do is give me a new sim and number. But I have had my number for 15 years and as a IT Contractor I have around 400 Contacts and I dont want to change my number....

Paul.
