Had an email to say I need to free up space in icloud so my iphone can back up. Have an ipad as well.
I've moved all my photos to my laptop, but still have 30mins worth of video on there. After these are transferred would this solve my problem?

Hi,

WoW you must have alot stored.

Out of 5gb I have 4.3gb left..... lol

You can buy extra gb space if you want !

10gb  for £14 a year.

20gb for £28  a year.

50gb for £70 a year.

That's just it, I don't even know why it's using all that as I don't know what it's storing?

Follow the instructions below on your iPad or iPhone:

Settings>icloud>storage & backup > Manage storage.

From this screen you can see exactly what is taking up your storage space. Pics and videos will take up a lot of space in the backup. You can choose not to back these items up to icloud by going to manage storage, clicking on the device backup of the device you are currently using, and you can toggle 'camera roll' on and off. This will back everything up except pictures and videos stored in the camera roll, and you can separately back these up to a pc.

You haven't recently restored your phone have you or upgraded?

iCloud started giving me similar messages because it was storing two instances of backups.

No I haven't upgraded or restored. Just kept up to date with iOS updates so to speak. I've deleted all my photos and videos too. How can I check of other instances of back ups? Still confused

Sign into iCloud on your pc and you'll get a breakdown of what's stored and how much.

Will also show if there's more than one back up

Right, turning off camera roll in back up size has opened up more space, however, I have my photo stream still on again, will this be affected in any way?
