If you take a contract you will accept full responsibility for the payments, it doesn't matter who actually pays.
The contract can only transferred to someone else with the agreement of O2.

Account details for the direct debit can be changed but do you want the responsibility for payment of the account. If the direct debit goes unpaid for any reason you will be liable for payment and any credit black marks.

Thanks. But it's not what I asked about. If we want to change the account and name for making payments after one month, is it even possible. I feel like it's not very "legal" but prob ppl do that loads.

You can change who makes the payments, but you will always be responisble for the payments and it is you who they will come after if they are not paid.
I don't think you understand what is involved here.
You cannot change the name of the contract owner unless you agree it with O2.
It's not a question of legality, it cannot be done.

What we are trying to say is that its not advisable.
The other person would have to pass a credit check anyway to be the new account holder.
If you didnt have a gut feeling this could go wrong then you wouldnt be asking here.
Go with your gut feeling.
