setting up a data connection on my xperia sp

I've had an xperia sp for a week now and have not been able to get a data connection on it.

Can anybody help me with this? I've had a chat with an O2 guru but he says it's because my 3G in my area isn't great. I've been to different places since and it fails to connect everywhere.

I've read it might be something i have to set up myself.

You should be able to text ACTIVE to 2020 then save the settings and reboot the phone. You should then be good to go when you get a decent 3G signal.
