I can't be heard when making a call on my galaxy note 3

Can anybody help? I can be heard (just) on speaker mode but when I use the phone the normal way the other person hears nothing. Is it something in settings or is it a fault? Thanks

Make sure you haven't got a case covering the mic or there is any dirt or lint in there. Have you tried using headphones supplied with the phone?

Definitely something covering the mic hole or fluff in it.

I had this problem for ages and it drive me mad but I found the solution online and tried it almost in desperation.
About a 1cm or so to the left of your charging socket is a tiny hole about the size of the hole a drawing pin leaves in a wall.
Almost guaranteed it's blocked up and needs cleaned. The suggestion online was to gently push a needle in to clear it but I chose the hgh E string on my guitar, there was enough at the machinehead to do the trick ( a 9 gauge for those that are interested lol).
To my utter amazement it sorted it out instantly, good as new 😊😊😊
